Steuben County Government

As with all county Governments, Steuben County Government was formed by the state of Indiana. Traditionally, counties performed state mandated duties which included assessment of property, record keeping, maintain rural roads, administration of elections and judicial functions, and poor relief.  Today, all counties are rapidly moving into other areas, such as undertaking programs relating to child welfare, consumer protection, economic development, employment/training, planning and zoning, and water quality, just to name a few.  The Steuben County Government Offices serve the public in the incorporated and unincorporated areas in a variety of different functions.  We have placed information on our web site to serve you better.  We hope you enjoy the site!!
